The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
