A person who laced treats with sleeping medication and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he ran.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepson notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.
The legal representative said the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the police once more.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five children.
